My Story

The Story Behind Wilson's Web Studio

My journey into web development wasn’t exactly planned. My first love was actually programming but here’s how I got from there to here.
01 — Secondary School & University

First Love: Programming

While studying Information Technology in secondary school, I was introduced to Algorithms and Data Structures, and quickly discovered I loved breaking down a problem and turning the steps into something a computer could execute.

That interest carried through community college (Visual Basic, C++) and university, where I learned Java and truly fell in love with programming. At that point, my goal was to become a programmer.

02 — Ameltek

An Unexpected Opportunity

While pursuing my degree, I got the chance to work with Ameltek, a small tech company. I went in hoping to do programming, but those spots were already filled. What they needed was someone to work in website development

So, almost by circumstance, I got into web development, discovering that I could combine the problem-solving mindset from programming with creativity and design.

03 — After Graduation

Turning an Opportunity Into a Career

After graduating, I applied for jobs across the tech industry and received a few "no vacancy" responses. Those rejections forced me to reconsider my direction.

I already had a skill I could use to build websites for businesses and individuals, so I decided to stop waiting for an opportunity and start creating my own. That decision led me into freelance web development, and eventually to Wilson's Web Studio.

04 — Today

Where I Am Today

What started as an unexpected opportunity is now a career spanning more than 15 years, working across Joomla, WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and more,  for clients around the world.

Programming taught me how to think through problems. Web development gave me a way to combine that with creativity and build things with real impact. That same problem-solving mindset is what's driving my next step: building AI-powered tools for businesses, that help clients work smarter and connect with their customers. It's the same instinct that hooked me on algorithms all those years ago, just applied to a new set of problems.
